The Sarasota County Technical Institute has many sources of financial aid.

Most financial aid is awarded on the basis of financial need. Need is the difference between your cost of education (educational expenses such as tuition, fees, room, board, books, supplies, etc.) and the amount you and your family contribute toward your education. You may be eligible for financial assistance and not realize it.

To find out if you qualify, make an appointment with one of our Financial Aid Specialists. Many sources of financial aid go untapped because people feel reluctant to apply or think that they do not qualify.

If you need help to pay for your EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES, don't hesitate to contact the Financial Aid Office.

Sarasota County Technical Institute's Financial Aid office is located in Building 14, Room 11.

Federal Grants

Federal Pell and Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity (FSEOG) are awards made to students by the federal government for educational purposes. These grants do not have to be paid back after students finish their training program.

Awards are based upon a needs analysis completed for each student and the total amount of grant money available to SCTI.

Sponsorship

Jobs, etc. offers financial assistance programs for disadvantaged students. The program will pay for the student's registration; lab fees and books; and, where applicable, other specialized program needs such as uniforms, and State Board examination fees. For additional information students call Jobs, Etc. at (941) 358-4200.

Scholarships

Many area organizations, businesses, and individuals offer scholarships to students. Some of these groups choose their recipients and have their own application process. Other scholarships are processed by the SCTI's Financial Aid office and recipients are selected based on criteria set forth by the donor and/or SCTI. Scholarships will help pay for educational expenses and are available to students that may or may not qualify for other forms of financial aid.

These financial aid sources are available for student's to enroll in approved career education programs.

Veterans

V. A. benefits are available to eligible veterans for enrollment in approved programs. For more information, contact SCTI's Guidance office at (941) 924-1365 x62286.
