The Marine Service Technology program focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, removing, and installing marine engines and systems in pleasure boats, yachts, and commercial craft. 

Content includes service, repair, and overhaul of four-stroke and two-stroke cycle engines and outboard engines. Electrical systems, fuel systems, power transfer systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, and drive systems and boat/trailer rigging.

Laboratory activities are an integral part of this program and include using the tools, equipment, materials, and processes found in the marine industry.

Graduates are prepared for employment as machinery, marine engine, or outboard motor mechanics.

Adult students…

PROGRAM LENGTH: The program takes about one year (1350 hours) to complete. Classes meet Monday through Friday from 7:25 am to 1:55 pm.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Student's competency in math, language, and reading is pre-assessed. Required basic skills grade levels are: Reading-9; Math-9; and Language-9.

ENTRANCE DATES: This program is open for enrollment four times a year, beginning each Quarter. (Click here for dates.)

High school students…

PROGRAM LENGTH: Students attend morning (7:25 to 10:10 am) or afternoon (10:50 am to 1:30 pm) sessions for 1 – 2 years as juniors and/or seniors.

ENTRANCE DATES: This is a two-year program for high school students. Seniors may enter and complete a one-year program. Students can earn up to 4 credits per year towards graduation.

Classes meet Monday through Friday on a half-day basis. Students may choose to attend morning (7:25 – 10:15 am) or afternoon (10:50 to 1:30 pm) sessions.
