ORIENTATION
For the High School students enrolled in

Automotive Collision and Repair

will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.

in the SCTI Cafeteria in Building 5.

 

The Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing program prepares high school students for employment as paint and body helpers, auto collision estimators, frame and body repair people, automotive refinishers, and auto body repairers.  Students can apply their creative skills and develop related welding, mechanical, and glass servicing skills that are in very high demand at dealerships and body repair facilities.

The program includes basic trade skills; refinishing skills; sheetmetal repair skills; frame and unibody squaring and aligning; use of fillers; paint systems and undercoats; related welding skills; related mechanical skills; trim-hardware maintenance; and glass servicing. The course content also includes training in communication, leadership, human relations and employability skills; and safe, efficient work practices.

With the hands-on experiences that students gain in vehicle knowledge, business management, and safety, they will be well prepared to advance in this expanding career field.

PROGRAM LENGTH: This is a two-year program for high school students.  Seniors may enter and complete a one-year program. Students can earn up to 4 credits per year towards graduation.

Classes meet Monday through Friday on a half-day basis.  Students may choose to attend morning (7:25 – 10:15 am) or afternoon (10:50 to 1:30 pm) sessions.  

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Student's competency in math, language, and reading is pre-assessed for counseling purposes and to help determine the student’s success in the program.

ENTRANCE DATES: This program is open for enrollment twice a year, beginning each school semester (August and January).
