ORIENTATION

For High School students enrolled in the

Drafting Program

will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in Building 7 in Room 701.

Architectural Drafting prepares students to become blue print readers, drafting assistants, drafting detailers, CAD drafters, or architectural or mechanical drafters and provide support to architects and engineers in the development of detailed drawings and specifications. The use of the drawing board and AutoCAD (computer-aided drafting) are incorporated into all aspects of the training. Students learn to prepare plans for residential buildings and structures, basic commercial and public buildings, and commercial interiors.

Upon completion of the program, a certificate of completion is issued in either Mechanical and/or Architectural Drafting.

The computer-aided drafting portion of the program is available as a separate course for the experienced drafter and for those professionals needing to update their CAD or drafting skills. Prospective students must demonstrate drafting proficiency prior to enrollment by presenting a portfolio or demonstration. Written transcripts alone are not acceptable.

Students are eligible to join SkillsUSA.  (Click for more information about SkillsUSA)
