The Sarasota County
Technical Institute, part of the School Board of Sarasota County, first opened its doors in September, 1967 to approximately
500 daytime students. SCTI offered 13 full-time programs in six new buildings
located on the original 63-acre site, purchased by the Sarasota County School
Board for $80,000.
Today, with over 75 acres on site, we offer 48 training
programs in Agribusiness, Automotive/Marine Technologies, Business
Technologies, Computer/Networking Technologies, Construction Technologies, Health
Science, Legal Programs, Public Service, and
Service-related Technologies for adults and high school students.
SCTI also has an
extensive continuing education program which provides training for those
currently employed, courses for acquiring or extending professional licenses,
and courses specifically designed for local businesses and industries to upgrade
skills or meet individual needs.
The school and business offices are open (except
during holidays and summer months) five days a week, 12 months a year, from 7:15 a.m. to
8:00
p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Some
programs are available on weekends.
