Program schedule
The program operates according to the school board schedule and calendar. The program is closed during the summer, all school holidays, and on staff professional days. requirements for admittance
- Children must be 3 years old by September 1 to attend.
- Completed application (available from SCTI Tech Tots office).
- Florida Certificate of Immunization, Form 680 (blue form)
- Certified documentation of a physical examination performed within one year prior to enrollment (Form 3040 yellow form). This exam must be performed and signed by a licensed medical provider, practicing physician or county health department.
- Registration fee if applicable. There is no registration fee for children in our ESE or VPK programs.
Entrance Dates
The Tech Tots program has "open enrollment". Enrollment can take place throughout the year as long as there is space available.

SCTI's Tech Tots Laboratory Preschool is open to the community for enrollment. Children must be 3 years old by September 1 to attend.
We are a program of the Sarasota County Technical Institute, which is governed by the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida. We are licensed for a capacity of 50 children and are regularly inspected by the Sarasota County Health Department.

This laboratory preschool was established in 1977 in conjunction with the SCTI Early Childhood Education program, which prepares high school and adult students to work in preschool settings. The training program meets all Florida Department of Children and Families and Sarasota County Child Care training requirements.
Full-time, certified staff are with the "Tech Tots" children throughout the day and believe that children are naturally creative, curious, inventive, and self-motivated. They help the children develop age-appropriate skills in a play setting.
This is an inclusive program where preschool children have the opportunity to interact with preschool children with special needs. Children receive speech/language and/or occupational therapies in the classroom setting and on an individual basis as needed.
The preschool uses mixed-age grouping in two classrooms and a Voluntary Prekindergarten or VPK program in one of the classes. This allows the high school and adult students to to become familiar with the VPK curriculum.
Florida's FREE VPK Program
Florida's FREE VPK program offers high quality learning opportunities for all four year old children. Eligible children must be 4 by September 1 of the school year, but not yet 5 or eligible for kindergarten.

HOURS: Monday - Friday 7:15 am – 2:00 pm
Tech Tots does not offer a part-time program and is closed during all school holidays.
REGISTRATION FEE: $100 (not charged for VPK or ESE students)

Preschool/ 7:15-2:00: $441/month*
VPK/ 8:30-11:30: no charge
VPK/ 7:15-2:00: $252/month*
ESE/ 7:15-2:00: no charge
